چکیده

Abstract Private and public clouds are good means for getting on-demand intensive computing resources. In such a context, selecting the most appropriate virtual machines (VMs) is complex task. From user’s point of view, challenge consists in efficiently managing cloud resources while integrating prices performance criteria. This paper focuses on problem VMs to run bags-of-tasks (BoT): big sets identical independent tasks. More precisely, we define new mathematical optimization models deal with time use each jointly integrate execution makespan cost into objective function through bi-objective problem. order provide trade-off solutions problem, propose lexicographic approach. addition, introduce, two different ways, capacity constraints or bounds number available clouds. A global limit resource at period can be defined. Computational experiments performed synthetic dataset. Sensitivity analysis highlights effect limits minimum makespan, deadline total operation cost, impact considering instantaneous instead between makespan.

Resource Management in Multi-* Clusters: Cloud Provisioning

Cloud computing – running large-scale computationand data-intensive services on inexpensive onthe-fly clusters – has become increasingly popular in recent years due to the advent of MapReduce and similar large-scale data parallel systems. Cloud provisioning, i.e., allocating resources for cluster requests, is the first step toward instantiating such clusters. In this report, we formally define ...

A resource provisioning framework for bioinformatics applications in multi-cloud environments

The significant advancement in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) have enabled the generation of several gigabytes of raw data in a single sequencing run. This amount of raw data introduces new scalability challenges in processing, storing and analyzing it, which cannot be solved using a single workstation, the only resource available for the majority of biological scientists, in a reasonable amo...

Resource provisioning in spot market-based cloud computing environments

Recently, cloud computing providers have started offering unused computational resources in the form of dynamically priced virtual machines (VMs), also known as “spot instances”. In spite of the apparent economical advantage, an intermittent nature is inherent to these biddable resources, which may cause VM unavailability. When an out-of-bid situation occurs, i.e. the current spot price goes ab...
